Asuka Langley Sohryu is a fictional character from the acclaimed anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. She is the Second Child, designated pilot of Evangelion Unit-02.

Born in Germany, Asuka is a child prodigy, having earned a university degree at a young age. Her heritage is complex; while raised as a German, she is of mixed German and Japanese ancestry.

Asuka is known for her fiery personality, incredible piloting skills, and relentless ambition. She is fiercely independent and craves recognition, often using her abilities to mask deep-seated insecurities stemming from a traumatic childhood.
